I wanted to like this, my first book by Heather Boyd, really, I did. Nowhere in the synopsis of the book did it say it was full of sex scene after sex scene. At the bottom of the description, it reads "A regency historical romance novel." Boy, was I fooled. I am truly tired of "Regency Romance" novels that don't conform to the morés of the period. Not only do the hero and heroine have sex throughout without being married, so do his sister and her love interest. That's four people having sex over and over and over. The plot had some interesting possibilities that ended up going nowhere, apparently so the author could copy/paste another six-page sex scene in. Really, it's time for Regency Romances to be stay true to the Regency period. This is my favorite genre, but it is quickly getting very old.

Chills The Distinguished Rogues Book 1 edition by Heather Boyd Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Erotic, indeed! Because I was expecting a better book due to the 4 star rating, I almost want to give it only one star (I hated it) but I have read worse romances. I have definitely decided not to buy Broken even with the high rating. So many reason I did not like this book the sex was not interesting, exciting nor erotic; the book was mostly descriptions of decor, houses and over and over about handsome hero; very little action; dialoge boring and last but not least, it was not erotic at all. I seldom read eroticia but when I want to (at may age one needs a charge now and then) I want to read something that might suggust a fantasy along the way. This book failed on all counts. I read a lot and depend on the rating system of , and like another reviwer, I was very disapointed. It is obvious that does not have their own critic but at least they should make sure the book is clasified correctly.
I made it until somewhere in Chapter Three when I realized that I didn’t really like any of the people in this book. The three main characters were poor stereotypes of typical historical romance characters. The damsel only wants a ring on her finger from the Duke who only wants to get her in his bed. The third character, the Duke's sister, fills the role usually handled by more than one mad, sickly or unhappy relative.
The grading between romance and porn seems to get blurred in many cases.I think too much graffic should require another classification. That being said enjoyed the story and was happy with the warm fuzzy ending
Chills seems an odd name for this bland tale - the weather wasn't particularly cold and no ghosts were involved. The marquess was referred to as cold and arrogant but behaved in a warm and generous fashion towards his family and friends.

Expanding on some elements could've made this tale more interesting dealing with Mama's gambling/spending problem, explaining what's special about Thistledown, giving further details on the death of Virginia's husband, having "Pixie" do something more pixie-ish than accidentally slice a ballgown with a cane-sword. None of the main characters seemed particularly likable. Constance was predisposed to presume foolishness while Virginia seemed shy a few marbles. Of course, careful editing would have clarified meaning where typos, missing words, wrong words, and
This book is just another mediocre author trying to pass off a book as Regency, that would probably otherwise not get looked at twice if categorized correctly. I think a lot of writers think if they put a woman in a ball gown and a man in a cravat that it makes it correct to a certain time period. It does not. This is just one sex scene after another with a few ideas thrown in between. The publisher and author of the book should really do some research before slapping a supposed time period on a book and putting it out for readers.
I was hoping for a “clean” regancy romance novel, and this was definitely NOT clean! It has very descriptive sex scenes. Very disappointed!
I had a feeling I wasnt going to like this book when the plot was summarized on page 1 rather than being told through the story. I knew I wasnt going to like this book on page 2, when the heroine's name is Pixie and shes a moron that ran through a "vast" fortune in no time at all, and then was both stupid, arrogant, antagonistic and seemed to know nothing at all about the man that was supposedly her guardian for years, who kept her solvent all that time. I kept going because I really liked the cover and wanted to give this a fair shake, but the dialogue, noone talks like that, even in the 1800s. Both lead characters were flat and the main plot point, that shes so stupid as to run through a large fortune and far into debt that fast, and then thinks all she needs is a wealthy husband, really grated on me. She learned nothing, and why she assumes a rich husband is going to be that easy to drag into marriage is beyond me.

My apologies to the Author. I dont think you are terrible, I just really did not like anything inside this book.
